valve facer coolant

Post by RACEPUMPER »

Does everyone run bought coolant in their valve facers?
Is there a DIY recipe? Maybe automotive antifreeze or water with 11 secret herbs and spices?

I, like Ray, have used ATF. When I had my shop I was always in search of the "magic" potion. I used water soluble oil and water and it worked good but would go rancid and stink like the sewer. I switched to a thinner honing oil in my Sunnen cylinder hone and also used that in my. Valve grinder. ATF worked fine, I used the other for conveinience sake. Just don't use gasoline ;-)

Type F if you work on early Ford stuff, Dexron II if it is GM and Dexron mercon if it is late model..... :P

If you are a tuner guy you might want to try Soy Sauce..
