Paulo Hotz shared this on FaceBook and I just knew we had to see it here. Some of the very best drag racing videos ever! From Australia.

I had to go back and watch a few more of those Antonov 225 videos. How cool! It's neat that it was built in 1988 and is still in use. Apparently it was put into storage for a while, then re-engined and put back into service last year.. Wikipedia has a nice article on the aircraft.

I think I read somewhere that the Antonov 225 was designed and built to service the Soviet space shuttle program, their shuttle program never got off the ground and these 225's were surplus and required extensive refitting to make them suitable for normal cargo service.
It's "little" brother, the AN 124 is a semi-regular visitor to the airport where I work, I took this picture about 6 months ago.

Take a look at this little monster. This one isn't the hottest snow mobile engine they have but it still gets 400+ hp from 1 liter. Make sure you watch the video of it on the dyno. I was just thinking that would be cool to run a 12 second run in my Nova Wagon and have some one come over and see a snow mobile engine in my car.
