pressure pick up questions

Post by tafeteacher »

I'm looking at the plans for the PTS bench and there are 3 pickups in the bench.
2 x in the top box and 1 x in the lower box.

My question is, both of the pressure pickups in the top section should be testing the same thing, no?
If they are, then why couldn't I just use one pickup and "tee" it off to the appropriate MTV-5 valve?

Looking for advice here.

There can be a lot of violence and buffeting going on in the air inside the bench.
If you only take a pressure measurement at one specific place, the raw pressure reading can sometimes bounce around a bit.
The solution is to take pressure samples from more than one place and average out the pressure in some kind of combining manifold.
Quite a few variations of that theme are possible, for example run a pipe around inside the settling chamber. Perforate the pipe in a few places with tiny pin holes.
Hook it all up and see how it goes. If you have bouncing numbers, worry about it then.
Also known as the infamous "Warpspeed" on some other Forums.

Thanks Tony, that's good advice and makes sense. I was trying to feed less lines into the box that holds all the electronics.
