Bore x Bore x stroke x RPM x .00353= ___________/ 613.8=____
4.03 x 4.03 x 3.58 X 5,000 x .00353=1026.21375/613.8=1.67 ????? Diameter????? or Area?????
I know this has nothing to do with the flow bench but i'm really hoping to get a answer.
If this is diameter then i can upen up my throat a lot......if its area, then i can't do much.
also i can convert diameter to area but don't know how to convert area to diameter....
Example 3/8 valve stem........ .375 x .375 x .7854= .11044688(.11) so i can us this to convert throat Diameter to Area
but how do i convert Area back to Diameter.
Thanks in advance

Re: Calling all Mathematicians
Please help
If it has been explained elsewhere. Please point me to it.
I just need to get my head clear in converting from diameter to area in inch and back.
Thanks as always

Re: Calling all Mathematicians
I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to do here Gordon ??
Converting diameter to area is pretty straightforward.
Area = Pi x radius squared (radius being half the diameter).
If you have a three inch diameter circle, radius will be one and a half inches.
First you multiply radius x radius to get radius squared. 1.5" x 1.5" = 2.25
Then you multiply that by Pi.
2.25 x 3.14159 = 7.068 square inches.
To convert area to diameter.
Radius = the square root of area divided by Pi.
Suppose you need a pipe that has eight square inches of flow area.
First you divide the area by Pi. 8" divided by 3.14159 = 2.5429924
Then you take the square root of that = 1.5946 which gives the radius.
The diameter will be twice the radius, so diameter = 1.5946 x 2 = 3.189 inches internal diameter pipe required.

Re: Calling all Mathematicians
Thank You vary much Tony, this is vary important to me that i get this right.
Now i need to take this and apply it. I would have to right a page, of what i'm doing but you will understand soon.
I may be, back with one more variation to this math.
Thanks
Gordon.

Re: Calling all Mathematicians
Ok that all works for me.
Now can you tell me if this is area or diameter? this math was gave to me a life time ago, from Darin Morgan. I know that the 613.8 number is a mock .55 air speed number. but don't know if this math translated to diameter or Area (sq in)
4.03 x 4.03 x 3.58 X 5,000 x .00353=1026.21375/613.8=1.67 ????? Diameter????? or Area?????
M.C.S.A (aka Area).....Or Diameter
If i had that answer I would be golden.
I have search on the speed talk forum and the bullet forum, but no firm answer, just chest Pounding .............................................

Re: Calling all Mathematicians
Example=> ProStock 500 cid
4.115 Sq.Inch Area = ( 4.687 * 4.687 * 3.62 * 9000 * .00353 ) / 613.9758744
where 613.9758744 = .55 Mach
I emailed you a text file I can't attach it here for some reason . . .

Bruce and Tony, thank you both for your time.
Bruce i found the email you sent me.
I will go over it all next week and get back to you.
As this week is dedicated to getting ready for a drag race.
Thanks
Gordon
