Mopars at Maple Grove

Post by Brucepts »

Got some free tickets to the Mopar weekend so my wife and I went today for a few hours. She is not a "motorhead" and doesn't understand what it is that I actually do and sell so this was an educational trip for her.

Very light turnout for a crowd, course the only time I go to the Grove is for the National meet and it's packed!

We had a good time, got my fix of race fuel smell and burnt rubber :)

Wasn't sure what the story was behind that one? I could not hear the announcer, I did see it sitting in the pits . . . one thing i also noticed walking the pits is this . . . I am selling my parts to cheap!

If guys that race can afford those rigs they haul their cars with, my parts should be worth more

The last photo that Bruce posted of the Sox and Martin car is just like the one my cousin and I ran against in Denver in Modified Production class. It was the Mid '70's and I think the guy's name was Robert Patrick or something like that. They were running b/mp and we were running b/sr in our '28 Model A roadster. Their car was a pro-stocker in b/mp disguise. We met them in the finals and had them about 1/2 a car length when our tranny let go in 3rd gear. Bruce, those pictures sure bring back some good memories, Thanks!

John, that was the name on the window if I recall from looking at it today!

I enjoyed being able to get right up next to "Big" he was talking to some Mopar fans so I did not interrupt, we just enjoyed walking around being nosy.

Tried to explain foot pedal to electronics to my wife, think she got the hang of it when she saw the difference on the track. Tried to show her a delay box in a car also. She wasn't understanding bracket racing either till they lined up a 17second car with a 10second car and it finally sunk in with her.

Told her next year we need to get setup to do shows with a flowbench display for some of these events!
