Went to see my Dr. for normal monthly visit. They did the normal blood test about 4:45 pm our time and I went home. My wife and I get a call at 10:25 pm while watching a movie. It is from a Dr. at the lab. He states "Mr. Holm, your potassium level is 6.3 and is life threatening high. GO RIGHT NOW! to the closest Emergency Room and be tested."
Needless to say I am crapping my pants about now and my wife and I and my daughter head out. We get to ER and tell them what is going on and they do not even hesitate to rush me to a room and start testing. 5 people hooking up all sorts of gadjets etc. and running all sorts of tests. They hook a bag of saline up to me and start pumping fluids in me. Finally at 1:05 am they tell me no issues, the labs test was faulty go on home.
Clinic Visit = $25.00 co-pay
ER visit = $100 co. pay
find out clinic lab test was bogus = priceless! I wonder if the clinic will re-imburse my $100 for scaring the crap out of me.

Yes, I agree! Good to hear all is well!
I was told once by a Doctor in a stern voice (after asking for "warranty work") that medicine is a "practice" so no they probably won't reimburse you.
I have learned not to take the Doctor's advice as totally fact and question everything now . . . forgot to add; can't hurt to ask for your money back can it??

Here in the good old USA our insurance requires a "co-pay" a small payment towards the bill. Each plan is different. On mine the insurance company requires a $25.00 payment from the patient on Dr. office visits and the insurance picks up the rest. If I go to a specialist then I have to pay $40 as my part of the visit. On the emergency room visit I paid $100 and the insurance paid the rest. I am sure the emergency room visit will be expensive for the insurance company. So $100 is a small part to pay, but it still bothers me that all of this happened.

I feel you John. I had a similar type of situation back in my 20's. But that was regarding a HIV test. F***ing clinics. Scared the living poop out of me!!!

Yeah it scared me good! I have been putting stuff off, saying I'll get to it later. There may not be a later so as Larry the cable guy says "Get her done!" I actually went out and worked in my garage today.
