They are rated 120% over the stated pressure so we are well within the manufacturer's limits. This was one of the items we discussed when we were designing the DM.

thanks bruce ,it sounds like a time saving piece of kit .

The automatic test pressure controller contains it's own independent differential pressure transducer and a closed loop analog PID control circuit.
It outputs either an 0-5v or 0-10 volt dc control voltage.
This dc control voltage commands any motor speed changes to hold test pressure constant.

Also required will be a completely separate mains phase control power module, (or a VFD) which enables the dc control voltage to control bulk mains power to the motors.
How much motor Hp or Amps can ultimately be controlled, is dependent only on the power module or VFD you decide to use, there is no upper limit.

Just remove the existing speed control potentiometer from your VFD, and wire in the automatic test pressure controller in it's place, and you will be set to go.

thats what i was thinking tony ,from when you mentioned it on my build thread . :)

Robert,
You are going to love this automatic test pressure controller.
It will open up a whole new world of speedy testing, consistency, and convenience.
A vast quantum leap, from which you will never go back.

I did not intend for this thread to sound like there is a problem with the PTS DM, it's just a reminder that you have to use it within it's limitations.

I have probably only had a few DM's that have been used outside the limits and needed repair. I have covered this repair currently and in the past but wanted to make everyone aware that you can not expect the DM to do something it's not designed to do :)

It is like driving your car head on into a wall at over 100 mph and complain that the air bag did not save your butt :D

I had mine probably past 50 a few times. What does 10 wide open motors with a closed valve equal anyway? :D

That project does not have a page of info, it has been kind of a forum project that I have yet to make into full production. If someone asks about it after reading about it on the forum it's been discussed.

I should look at getting some info gathered together and put something up about it.

Basically it controls a solid state relay using a pressure sensor which is manually set to your first test pressure point, from there on, any change made to your test part ie opening/closing the valve will change your motor speed to set your depression back to your first test point. It actually is designed to operate on various types of controls SSR's, VFD etc.

I've only used it on SSR's so far.

Should be some info on the old forum about the project, I'll see if I can find a link or two.

I was not able to find one specific post on the old forum, to stupid to be able search my own forum I guess!

I know there is a more than a few posts as we developed that product. I'm making a few changes to my life right now which will help me in taking more time to develop some of these "nagging" projects that need to move forward.

As most of you know I work the flowbench side of my life part-time and have a part-time job a few hours a day. Yes, PTS is a one-man operation with lots of technical help from Tony/Rick! It's come time to now make the move away from my part-time job and spend more time working on the flowbench side. This will also work better with my on-going long-term health issues I deal with daily which keep me from working anything full-time.

With that being said, look for things to start changing over the next few months, won't happen overnight but I am taking one step forward today telling my current employer I am leaving as of August 24, unless they say sooner . . . :)

Can't forget to say thanks to the core group of forum members who also contribute ALOT to my success at PTS! Also, I could not do this without the other forum members and customers who purchase PTS Product! a BIG THANKS to all!!!!!

Robert,

Not sure if you have log in to the old forum but bruce can help you with that if not. My sugestion is go there and just search on "PID" you will find lots of discussion about different controlers ideas and the making of the PT motor controler that Tony and Bruce came up with.

Its a start.

Rick
