You do know that MDF with the color Green adhesive is water proof. And can bought at Lowe's or other lumber yards .

The inner laminates are claimed to be void free

Key word here is ( Claimed ) I have worked with MDO for about 3 years & found voids in MDO & You must be careful what paint you use or you will see separations of those ply s

Thanks Malvin. That is very good to know. I have never used it and so the way mdo was presented it sounded like the answer to all of our prayers.

I don't know how true it is, but I have heard a lot of the wood at HD and Lowes is coming in from China. Anybody know?

That water proof mdf can be purchased up to 25mm thick. That is .984" almost a inch thick. That would one heavy floe bench.

I used one inch MDF bolted to a steel angle frame, my bench weighs about 350 Kg (770 Lbs)
No problem its on wheels, but has never moved an inch from where I first built it about ten years ago.

Haha, a 10Hp three phase motor is not exactly light, and neither is the cast iron housing for the centrifugal blower. Its not as if I am continually moving the thing around.

You don't have to worry about it blowing away either

That reminds me of a blower I once made for radiator cooling on a dyno.
It has a 3Hp motor fitted to a 15 inch barrel centrifugal, it delivers around 8,000 CFM coming out at around 40 Mph.
Its mounted on two wheels.....
The first time I powered it up it chased me around the double garage like a dog on a chain anchored by its rather long power cord.
A fairly memorable experience.
