Hi Guys,
Sticking with the data logging theme - I have been looking at picolog:

as the basis of an engine dyno data acquisition setup.
Now, I know next to nothing about data logging so right at the bottom of the learning curve.
I have also heard Aduino mentioned several times - any thoughts on either of these routes for either flow bench or dyno?
I started a seperate thread in General Dyno Discussion about data for that application.

That picolog would certainly work as a flow bench data acquisition system, but for a dyno you really need at least one high speed digital input for measuring speed/rpm.
Also known as the infamous "Warpspeed" on some other Forums.

Why not use a Bosch MAF? they come in all sizes, are available with analog (0-5v) or digital (frequency) output.

If you want to overcome the DAC 10 bit resolution you can use the digital in, providing youhave enough sample rate, IIRC they go till about 6-8kHz or so.. and good thing is if you use a standard one, you find voltage to flow curve directly online.. if you use one from a car, it's not too hard most of the times to extract the curve from the cars ecu (software), this is usually a curve with 16 or 32 breakpoints
