View of my spring garden and home improvements. I have given up on grass. Had a nice yard once upon a time and the summer heat kept killing it. Now only weeds are left. Have decided to move them out slowly with a garden and flower bedding. Have spent most of my spring on this effort and still not done. So much to do, so little time. This is suspose to be the "year of the house". But I say that every year. (tom c)

I haven't said much because I felt like I would be a whiner after seeing what other people are going through around the world. My disaster is a fly spec on the wall of life compared to what is going on around. I had a flood in my basement. The pressure relief valve blew on my water heater and by the time it was caught we had a foot of water in my basement. That is where my flow bench and a bunch of other stuff was. We lost a fair amount but not really a big deal. Saved pictures etc so that was GREAT! Biggest thing was getting the ruined carpet and pad out. BOY does it start to stink in a hurry. Had to break down the flow bench and use the shop vacs for vacuums ;-) The water went rotten in a hurry and smelled just like sticking your head in an outhouse :( On the way to being dry.

Ray, how are you fairing where you are? How is everybody in flow bench land doing? Haven't heard from anybody and I hope everybody is alright.

The high water from the Mississippi River will not cause problems where I'm located. It has caused some problems a few hundred miles northwest of my location.

My friend Melvin has relatives that live in lower Louisiana, they are concerned with the diverting of flood water through their location.

The additional fresh water in the Gulf of Mexico may have an effect on marine life.

We haven't had enough rain where I live. The grass is starting to die from lack of rain. My dad is having to water his garden to keep the plants from dieing.

We've had quite a lot more precipitation than normal for the last three month. Earlier today I took this picture of a waterfall near my home, a fairly common sight around here these days. And HERE's a 20 second video clip of the same stream.

Not only are you smart you are a darn good photographer! Beautiful picture. I could not get the video to play, that would have been awesome.

Thanks,
John

Thanks, it was a foggy day today that gave the picture a neat effect.

I'm not sure why the video wouldn't open for you, it should just open up with Window Media Player as it's a normal Window media file. But if not, it's not a big file only 2.1 meg so maybe try right clicking on it and "Save Link As" so it's saved on your computer and open it from there.

Now it won't open for me! Occasionally, there's a problem with the website, it's free web space, I guess you get what you pay for.
