Hi all, I'm new here. Been around the car/engine machining industry for over 15 years and finally it's time to build my own bench. Now, I'm looking at buying some Ametek 119996-00 vac motors. These things seem to flow around 97-98 cfm @ 28"s. I can get these at a reasonable price. My question is do I just buy 6 or do I get 8 of them? Heads I port flow upto 500cfm.
Thanks
Glenn.

Welcome Glenn
Never hurts to go with more motors, well it only hurts once when you buy them after that there are no regrets!
Motors are the heart of a flowbench I never tell anyone to save money on that part of a build if they are trying to cut cost.

Hey Glenn, welcome to the forum.
Those ameteks are good motors I've used before.
Definitely go with 8.
6 may cut it if your delta p is real low, if your going with Bruce's dm, ( which everyone will recommend ) it uses delta p of 16" and you will need 8 motors.
In a pts bench 8 of those motors will flow approx 550 cfm @ 28"

Couple of members from Melbourne, sure they will chime in.
I only have 125a SSR's they are the same price as the 75's I was offering. I bought a lot of 100+ of the 125a's. Hoping they last for a while till I can find a new supply.

Were there any issues with the 75a?
