Within the Fiero community there seems to be the V8 guys and the V6 guys (3.4L, 3800SC) Cadillac North Star is one of the V8 conversions.
A friend of mine has a 3800SC with a 5 speed and it drives like a normal car until he opens'er up then all heck breaks loose!
My plan is to pull my 2.8L out and install a 3.4L hooked to my Muncie 4 speed.
I was not following that build on the Fiero forum I frequent. I have seen that car though, wasn't aware it was done yet.

How about sneaking a turbo in there?

The 2.8L V6 is a strong engine, add 12 pounds of boost, that's what I'm talk'n bout!
I've built a couple 2.8L v6's for my own vehicles. Mild bowl blend, valve job and nice camshaft. One was two barrel oem carb in 83 S10 Blazer, the other was 86 Camaro MPFI. Both were fun to drive.
I haven't built any 3.8L V6's. I've ported a few pairs of heads for them with good results.
Now one of the newer style 3400 or 3800 V6's would be a fun project.

Which V6 was in the Cavalier Z-24? I remember them to be pretty wild behind a stick and I think its more "conventional"? Are those the same?

A couple Fiero guys have done the 2.8 turbo or should I say 3.4 turbo, the 3.4 from 92-95 Camaro/Firebird are a drop in replacement for the 2.8 that's in there now.
I like the idea of drop-in replacement with a little bit'o kick. The heads on the Fiero 2.8 are the high compression heads. I'd really need to get them on my flowbench and start playing with'em
I'll keep in mind Ray that you have had some experience with these heads
