Well, I found some material at my local Pro Hardware store for check valves:
They sell 3/16" thick rubber material (6"x6") for making gaskets for plumbing.
I bought a piece of that and cut it down to a 4.5" round circle with a 1"x1" tab on the edge for a hinge.
I bought a pvc 6" schedule 40 cap that is flat across the part and will put it in a lathe and have a 4.0" radiused hole put into it in the center. 12 square inches of area should easliy feed two motors with 1.75" openings. Each pair of motors will have a common "inlet box" with a 4" check valve.
I plan on pop riviting the hinge flap to the PVC cap and then doing like 86rocco and using 4 long screws to mount the assembly to the motor board.
