Bench PC alternative

If you have digital manometers or electronics, you most likely need a PC or Pocket PC to operate it. Desk top PCs can be cumbersome and Laptops can be akward too.

I just received a Fujitsu Tablet PC from J&K Sales for $125.00 including a docking station for all the ports (serial, printer, monitor, keyboard, mouse). This is the Stylistic LT and is a Petium 266 running Windows 98se.

You can operate a Tablet PC without a keyboard or Mouse by using the touch screen and a stylus.

I will set it up and give a reveiw and some pics maybe this weekend.

That sounds like a cool idea but on my flow bench setup a normal PC isn't any problem. I've got some shelving next to the flow bench and the PC tower is down on the bottom and then I have the monitor, mouse and keyboard on a shelf that's at eye level while I'm standing at the bench.

It takes very little computer power to do all the calculations and capture data from the flow bench, in my case via the Superflow Flow Com. I built the machine I use for less than $75 using parts that I scrounged up at the scrapyard across town! This is no joke, often they will get in a load of old PC's and out of the parts I found I built a Pentium 2 machine with 128MB ram and a 15GB hard drive, works great and it's plenty of machine for the job.

I guess I'm just cheap when it comes to computers.
