Breaker box

Discussion on general flowbench design

For those of you with multiple vacuum motors what size breaker are you using in your house or shop breaker boxes? I am using eight motors (part # 16-1234).

Has anyone tested these motors to see how many amps they actually draw during initial start up and during operation? I am not going to use all of the motors at one time. Most likely six will be the most I will ever use. Will a 30 or 50 amp break be enough? I am using 220 to the bench and splitting it into two 110's inside the bench. Each leg has 4 motors on it.

I am using a 4-Breaker (15 amp each) sub panel
that has provisions for a 4 wire circuit system:

Black is Hot for one motor leg (4 motors)

Red is Hot for a second motor leg (4 motors)

White is the common Neutral that all of the white wires on the motors attach to.

Green is the ground that is attached to all of the motor cases as well as other metal parts on the bench.

There are taps for all 4 of the colored wires in the sub-panel. The panel cost me $50.00

The plug for the panel is a 4 wire dryer plug/
pigtail with three vertical blades and the round ground pin.

That is pretty much how I have mine wired except for the extra sub panel. I am thinking about doing it later. I am also using a 4 prong plug. I am hoping to have the 220 installed soon. Then I can see if everything works.
