I checked the DYI sight. They have kits that use shop vacs. as the the flow source. I"m looking for the pros and cons as to using a shop vac. I question the simplicity and accuracy.

First, Welcome to the Forum!
Right now the flow bench I am using is built off of Bruce's plans minus the motor side. I use 2 shop vacs and can pull 10" H2O test pressure in a Small Block Chevy at .800" lift. Here is the thread to follow.
I did this to prove the to myself that I could follow the plans and make it work. It works beyond belief. I am now building the full bench with 8 vacuum motors from Bruce's Plans.
You could build it like I have and then get Bruce's Digital Manometer. If you got two big Craftsman 6.5 hp Shop Vacs you may even be able to pull 12" H2O with a SBC.
The key here is read this thread, buy Bruce's plans and decide what you want to do for a manometer. The digital is the way to go.
