Funnily enough there are such things as ion air pumps.
They are used to generate extremely high vacuums for laboratory applications.

But the way they work, they cannot create positive pressures, or "supercharge" anything.

Tony,

I put myself through collage working in the Laser Plasma Fusion lab at the UMD working as a Machinist and high vacuum welder. Our biggest experiment used two 10hp Sergeant Welsh roots vacuum pumps as the base pump on top were two 3Hp turbine pumps then two Ion pumps (about 10feet of vacuum pumps stacked up side by side). We could pull below 10^-3 torr in a vessel you could park a VW in, it was very impressive.

I do hope you all know I was being facetious, it just kills me how quick the snake oil salesman are to come out and sell there experimental products.

Ha-ha, yes we know Rick.

These e-bay scams will never die.

I just saw the ion supercharger topic, and it immediately triggered a memory of some high vacuum ultra centrifuges I was once responsible for looking after.

Also many years ago, I was vaguely involved with instrumenting someone else's post graduate project involving hydrogen generation by electrolysis as part of an alternative energy system. What some of these scam systems claim to do is quite extraordinary....

I thought this device would let me finally take the cow magnets off of my fuel line

hee hee haw haw and put them on my house's water lines to soften the water.
