I found out what the definition of DARNED!!! FAST!!! is. That is how fast the water disappeared from your inclined manometer when you are not paying attention and overpressure! :p

Put a catch can in the line before/after the manometers and you will save your manometer fluid if it is other than pure water. It will have no effect on the readings accuracy and typically actually calms down the manometer readings.

Thanks Tom - it was really a bone head move on my part. I will do what you suggest. It is just colored water right now.

The times I have had it happen is when someone wants to feel how much suction your bench has and puts their hand over the opening. They suck the manometers dry and jump back like a snake bit them from the suction, LOL! I have a big sign, DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND OVER THE OPENING UNLESS YOU HAVE $300.00 FOR THE FLUID REPLACEMENT COST. I don't tell them about the catch cans.
