L/D Ratio

By popular vote a place to add formulas. If you post a formula please make sure your abbreviations are spelled out so it avoids a lot of follow-up postings.  I know a lot of abbreviations are common or taken to be common knowledge. Please be sure to checkout the new FAQ of common abbreviations.

L/D = valve lift/valve dia (L/D) not much more of a formula needed.

The answer to L/D is what you set your test height at. So if you are testing at .100 and your valve dia is 1.380 your .100 lift setting would be .072" now take a 1.425 valve dia at the same lift and you would test at .070". This allows you to compare different valve dias to each other.
