or should stick with a better(higher dollar) one

I do have a couple furnace type blowers. and a cheap surplus store real close to buy old blower/fans. would they work. or would they not pull enough vacuum?

Those surpluscenter blowers will work. A number of people here have used them in their benchs. Furnace blowers won't work, they move a lot of air but not a sufficiently high pressure (or vacuum) to be useful in a flowbench.
