Today I started final assembly on the heads. I made up this clamper 2 years ago when I had put together these heads the first time. The standard spring compressor was not any help on the springs. So I made up this clamper gismo to install the retainers and keepers. This was a lot easier this time using the head standoffs. It takes a few minutes per spring but it works. The main issue is it tries to tilt or pivot from the centerline of the valve as you compress. But with a little effort and a few kind words (sometimes) the first keeper falls in and then the second and bingo, the spring is installed. Since I don't use it that often I haven't made any version improvements. I painted the head using the stand off for the first time. I use standard primer and it holds up fairly well (for a while). tom
