Vertical manometer length

Any advise on how long (in inches H2o) vertical manometers I need for probing velocity in ports, my bench will mostly be used with 28" H2O test pressure?
I had figured on using 29" vertical manometers for this (roughly 106m/s) but friends that have superflow benches claim that I might need 35" or so...

I would say at lest 36". A buffer is needed in excess of your test pressure of 28".

I'm going to use wells above the u-tube so thats no problem. When using 28" test pressure what is the highest speed/pitot pressure I can expect?
