What is the easiest way to adjust your valve while testing it? I made a fixture but I don't know how accurate it is going to be.

How do you determine what the valve lift is? I guess the valve lift is in thousandths of an inch? Will any dial indicator work to determine this?

Hi Martin,

How goes the new bench?

Here's a link to some pics that will help you get some ideas on valve opening fixtures.

A cheapo dial indicator will measure lift.
Adjustment can be done with a threaded rod.

Any thoughts on a fixture for a multi-valve head?

With bikes, there are several different valve actuation methods in use for 4V heads. I have a 3 different ones I made up. It depends on rocker vs bucket.

Do you have any pictures of your fixtures? I'm most interested in the bucket type.

I'll take one when I go to the shop. I'll post a sketch for now.
This is what I devised for a Suzuki LTZ400 head.

The problem to be overcome was there was a center cam journal support between the buckets. I used a think flat piece of aluminum, drilled two holes for 5mm screws to thread into it. The screws do the pushing on the buckets. My dial indicator fixture is built so that I have T handle adjuster that pushes down on the top of the indicator rod and the bottom of the rod pushes on a 6mm bolt that I modified. That 6mm bolt pushed on the thin aluminum plate. Hope that makes sense.
